Yesterday I had an unexpected day off! Love it! It really made me realize how much I miss spending time with JUST Levi all day! He's so fun!
So we were up early, got dressed, etc, and headed to the school to drop off daddy. Mondays are Bible study for me, so they're a little busier than our average day. We get there at 7:30 and have about an hour to kill before we leave for church. So we got a puzzle from the kindergarten room (Miss Nater is so sweet to let us borrow all her fun stuff) and went to the staff morning prayer (mon & thurs) and waited for all the kids to arrive for school, and said hello to the teachers (they all just love on him)
"The kids" (as L calls them) went upstairs for class so we watched the little ones file in for daycare, (both of us just love watching people) and he had made himself the designated greeter, saying hello to each child and parent, and worker. And he did his ABC's puzzle, and read a couple books (keep in mind he is dressed as Batman the entire time, for the fall festival we are heading to later) then we went up to daddy's class to say goodbye, and have him let us back through to the other side of the school to return the puzzle (it's thumbprint-security door) BUT the other door was locked, because at that time on Monday's they are busy in the offices counting money from Sunday's offerings. So, we went back downstairs, through the sanctuary, and around to the front, back up the elevator, and walked to kinder class to bring back the puzzle.
Then we still had a few minutes so we went to the office to chat with (bother?) the ladies there. By this point in his life, L knows who everyone is, and greets them "hi, Miss B, hi Miss Tonya" and they tell him how cute he is and so beautiful, and go on and on, and he says "yeah." like he knows it. Miss Vega comes (the principal-or "Nathan's boss" as L would say) and has to walk to the other side, (where N's class is) and asks him to join her as his helper and carry a pencil case for her. He looks at me, and back at her and goes. (This is a big step for him, and only recently has he decided it's ok to go without mommy if she seems ok with it, and he knows the person)
As a reward for his help, he is given a lollipop, and by the time he gets back we need to leave for Bible study. Of course it is at this exact moment that the drizzling turns into pouring, and we try to wait out the rain, but there is no sign of it ending, so I roll up my pantlegs and pick L up to run him out to the car, wishing that both our sweatshirts and our umbrella were NOT in the car, but rather inside with us. Story of my life! And L stays mostly dry but I am running through puddles that are more like rivers, and despite my best efforts, my pants are soaked up to my knees, and my hair is wet, and frizzy, and I look like I had to cross through all kinds of wet terrain instead of the short jog to my car.
So we got to our classes, and I come back and pick L up for the small fall festival for all the moms and their kids, and there's a bounce house, and snacks and juice boxes, and toys, and he has a marvelous time and I just love watching him, and playing with him. And we go home and have some lunch and play together, and take naps and he takes this amazing nap, and when I wake up he is still asleep, so I make some delicious halloween cookies. :)
