Birthday Weekend!

With Nathan & Levi's birthdays so close together, (officially 13 hours & 28 minutes apart) we usually end up doing a few days of celebration all smooshed together. Especially since birthday packages that get mailed don't always come on the exact birthday. In our house L probably gets the best birthdays, because neither of us care as much about ours. (Although next year my hubby turns 30, so I will definitely have to plan something for that)
Levi's birthday started Thursday when his first box came in the mail, from grandma & grandpa. You should have seen the smile on his face as he walked in the door, with Aunt Charity carrying his giant box behind him. He tried to play it cool, asking "oh, what's that?" I told him it was really for his birthday, so he should wait to open it on his birthday. haha, yeah that wasn't going to happen. The only reason it waited until daddy got home is because he couldn't cut the shipping tape on his own. I just love the way kids open presents! It doesn't matter what it is, it's always like the most exciting thing in the world for them! Love it! The look of sheer delight, just knowing it's something especially for him. And the comments of "Oh, look at that!" "That's so great" "It's amazing!" etc.
This is the first time we haven't done a 'real party' for him, but I still wanted him to do something special with his friends, so another teacher and I (her daughter has a birthday on Sunday) brought in ice cream and cupcakes and shared them with the daycare after lunch on Friday. Getting a bunch of pre-school aged kids all hopped up on sugar just before nap time?? Maybe it sounds crazy, but they were all asleep shortly after that anyway. :) And it was a lot less trouble than trying to do anything at home.
When we got home there was another package waiting for him in the mail, this time from his other grandparents, and he was thrilled to open that one as well.
For Nathan's birthday last night he wanted Chinese, but since nobody else likes it, we all got takeout from different places and settled in to watch some episodes of his favorite show, Seinfeld. And instead of a present (all his birthday money is going toward paying for satelite so he can watch his football games) I made him some delicious pb choc chip cookies.
Levi's day so far today has been a delicious breakfast of waffles with whipped cream and strawberries, and sausage, and oranges and grapes. Then he opened his presents, and got some good use out if his new nerf guns (shooting daddy) and now he's painting. Since breakfast ended up being more of a "brunch" we will probably clean up soon, and have dirt pudding with worms and then take naps. :)
