just like you, only prettier.

ok, so i heard that song the other day... "we're just like you, only prettier" and it reminds me of something me & my sisters would say, as a joke of course, but maybe we'd mean it a little bit...
anyway, lately i've been feeling convicted. i realized how prejudiced and judgemental i can be. it's kind of hit me hard. honestly, none of it is racism. i can tell you with no doubt in my mind that i no longer feel uncomfortable around other ethnicities. i guess you learn to adapt to your surroundings. that used to be a small problem for me. -not that i hated any group of people, just that it seemed weird to be around non-white people since that was what i was used to. now i barely notice. so then... thats the worst way to be prejudiced, right?? i guess thats what i thought.
but then, what about when i'm out (anywhere- shopping, eating, church, etc) and i see someone and judge them in my mind? fat. ugly. ugly clothes. bad hair. well, thats me saying "i'm better than you" and "youre not good enough the way you are"  is that what i really think?? i know if i take the time to think about it for even a second, i'm way wrong.
so anyway, thats a personal problem i'm working on. because i know somewhere in everyone, is God's image. and He made everyone different for a reason.

  1. Great perspective. . . it is so hard to monitor thought processes sometimes!
